evaṃ saṃmaṃtrya devāste kailāsaṃ parvataṃ gatāḥ | tatastu naṃdinā sarve niṣiddhāḥ samayaṃ vinā
Pulastya (narrator)
Tirtha: Kailāsa
Type: peak
Scene: A majestic Kailāsa with snow-bright peak; devas arrive in a cluster, but Nandin—bull-faced, powerful, adorned—halts them at the threshold, hand raised in prohibition, signaling ‘no entry without samaya’.
Even divine beings observe maryādā (proper protocol); approaching the Lord’s abode requires humility, order, and right conduct.
Mount Kailāsa is referenced as Śiva’s sacred abode, within the larger narrative leading to Īśānī-śikhara’s greatness.
Implicitly, one should approach sacred spaces with proper permission/discipline (samaya), not impulsively.
