Agastya
Tirtha: Varuṇālaya/Samudra-linked tīrtha (Gaṅgā-samudra replenishment motif)
Type: kshetra
Scene: Agastya, austere and radiant, declares the power of his propitiated vidyā; the sea’s waters appear drawn inward as if ‘drunk,’ leaving a revealed hollow, while subtle divine syllables shimmer in the air.
Spiritual attainments (vidyā, tapas) are portrayed as real powers, but they must be aligned with cosmic welfare and restraint.
The oceanic sacred setting is central; the tīrtha significance unfolds through Agastya’s interaction with the ocean and later Gaṅgā’s role.
Propitiation (ārādhana) of vidyā is referenced, but no step-by-step rite is detailed.
