ब्राह्मण्यां क्षत्रियाज्जातः सूत इत्यभिधीयते । सूतेन रजकश्चैव रजकेन च चर्मकृत्
brāhmaṇyāṃ kṣatriyājjātaḥ sūta ityabhidhīyate | sūtena rajakaścaiva rajakena ca carmakṛt
பிராமணப் பெண்ணுக்கும் க்ஷத்திரிய ஆணுக்கும் பிறந்தவன் ‘சூதன்’ என அழைக்கப்படுகிறான். சூதனிடமிருந்து ‘ரஜகன்’ (துவைப்பவன்) பிறக்க, ரஜகனிடமிருந்து ‘சர்மக்ருத்’ (தோல் தொழிலாளர்) பிறக்கிறான்।
