मृकण्ड उवाच । कस्मात्त्वं विप्रशार्दूल वीक्ष्येमं मम दारकम् । सुचिरं विस्मयाविष्टस्ततोऽभूः सस्मिताननः
mṛkaṇḍa uvāca | kasmāttvaṃ vipraśārdūla vīkṣyemaṃ mama dārakam | suciraṃ vismayāviṣṭastato'bhūḥ sasmitānanaḥ
மૃகண்டு கூறினான்—ஓ பிராமணர்களில் புலியே! என் இந்தக் குழந்தையைப் பார்த்து நீ நீண்ட நேரம் வியப்பில் ஆழ்ந்திருந்தாய்; பின்னர் ஏன் புன்னகை முகமாயினாய்?
