तेषां मध्ये तु यो बौद्धः शांतो दांत इति स्मृतः । छन्दोगगोत्रविख्यातो वेदवेदांगपारगः
teṣāṃ madhye tu yo bauddhaḥ śāṃto dāṃta iti smṛtaḥ | chandogagotravikhyāto vedavedāṃgapāragaḥ
அவர்களில் பௌத்தன் எனப்பட்டவன் ‘சாந்தன்’ ‘தாந்தன்’ என நினைவுகூரப்பட்டான்; சாந்தோக கோத்திரத்தில் புகழ்பெற்று, வேதங்களிலும் வேதாங்கங்களிலும் தேர்ந்தவன்.
