चक्रीकृतधनुः सज्जं चक्रे बेद्धुं सदाशिवम् । यावत्पुनः संधयति मदनो मदनांतकम् । तावद्दृष्टो महेशेन सरोषेण तदा द्विजाः
cakrīkṛtadhanuḥ sajjaṃ cakre beddhuṃ sadāśivam | yāvatpunaḥ saṃdhayati madano madanāṃtakam | tāvaddṛṣṭo maheśena saroṣeṇa tadā dvijāḥ
வில் வட்டமாக வளைந்து தயார் நிலையில் இருக்க, மதனன் சதாசிவனைத் துளைக்க முனைந்தான். ஆனால் அவன் மீண்டும் மதனாந்தகனை நோக்கி குறி வைத்த அதே கணத்தில், ஓ இருவேதியரே, கோபமுற்ற மகேசன் அவனை கண்டான்.
