अनुस्वारो विसर्गश्च जिह्वामूलीय एव च । उपध्मानीय इत्येते जरायुजास्तथांडजाः
anusvāro visargaśca jihvāmūlīya eva ca | upadhmānīya ityete jarāyujāstathāṃḍajāḥ
அனுஸ்வாரம், விசர்கம், ஜிஹ்வாமூலீயம், உபத்மானீயம்—இவையே (குறிகள்) என உரைக்கப்பட்டன; இங்கு அவை கர்ப்பஜரும் அண்டஜரும் ஆகிய உயிர்களோடும் தொடர்புபடுத்தப்பட்டன.
