इति ते कथिता संख्या अर्थं चैषां श्रृणु द्विज । अस्मिन्नर्थे चेति हासं तव वक्ष्यामि यः पुरा
iti te kathitā saṃkhyā arthaṃ caiṣāṃ śrṛṇu dvija | asminnarthe ceti hāsaṃ tava vakṣyāmi yaḥ purā
இவ்வாறு அவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை உனக்குச் சொன்னேன்; இப்போது ஓ த்விஜா, அவர்களின் பொருளை கேள். இதே பொருளைச் சார்ந்து, ஒருகாலத்தில் நகைச்சுவையையும் உபதேசத்தையும் அளித்த பழங்கதையை உனக்குச் சொல்வேன்.
