तद्द्वीपपतिश्च प्रैयव्रतो हिरण्यरोमा तत्पुत्रवसुवसुदानदृढकविनाभिगुप्तसत्यव्रतवामदेवनामांकितानि सप्त वर्षाणि । वर्णाश्च कुलिशकोविदाभियुक्तकुलकसंज्ञा जातवेदसं भगवंतं स्तुवंति

taddvīpapatiśca praiyavrato hiraṇyaromā tatputravasuvasudānadṛḍhakavinābhiguptasatyavratavāmadevanāmāṃkitāni sapta varṣāṇi | varṇāśca kuliśakovidābhiyuktakulakasaṃjñā jātavedasaṃ bhagavaṃtaṃ stuvaṃti

அந்தத் தீவின் அதிபதி பிரையவ்ரத வம்சத்து அரசன் ஹிரண்யரோமா. அவன் புதல்வர்களின் பெயர்களால் ஏழு வர்ஷப் பகுதிகள்—வசு, வசுதான, த்ருட, கவி, நாபி, குப்த, சத்யவ்ரத, வாமதேவ—எனப் புகழ்பெற்றன. அங்கே குலிச, கோவித, அபியுக்த, குலக எனும் வர்ணங்கள் பகவான் ஜாதவேதஸ் (அக்னி) அவரைத் துதிக்கின்றனர்।
