skaṃda uvāca | avimukteśa māhātmyaṃ varṇitaṃ tegrato mayā | atho kimasi śuśrūṣuḥ kathayiṣyāmi tatpunaḥ
Skanda
Tirtha: Avimukteśvara (topic of māhātmya)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Agastya
Scene: Skanda, radiant and youthful, addresses sage Agastya in an āśrama setting; palm-leaf manuscripts and a small liṅga/altar indicate the topic; Skanda gestures as if to begin anew.
Sacred teachings are worth hearing repeatedly; the Māhātmya of Kāśī’s Lord is presented as inexhaustibly beneficial.
Avimukteśa/Avimukteśvara of Kāśī, whose Māhātmya is the topic of the chapter.
None directly; it establishes the didactic setting for continued narration (śravaṇa/recitation of Māhātmya).
