सत्यं ब्रूयात्प्रियं बूयान्न ब्रूयात्सत्यमप्रियम् । प्रियं च नानृतं ब्रूयादेष धर्मो विधीयते
satyaṃ brūyātpriyaṃ būyānna brūyātsatyamapriyam | priyaṃ ca nānṛtaṃ brūyādeṣa dharmo vidhīyate
உண்மையைச் சொல்லுக; இனிய சொற்களைச் சொல்லுக; கடுமையான உண்மையைச் சொல்லாதீர். இனிமையாகத் தோன்றும் பொய்யையும் சொல்லாதீர்—இதுவே விதிக்கப்பட்ட தர்மம்.
