मतिमद्भ्यो नराः श्रेष्ठास्तेभ्य श्रेष्ठास्तु वाडवाः । विप्रेभ्योऽपि च विद्वांसो विद्वद्भ्यः कृतबुद्धयः
matimadbhyo narāḥ śreṣṭhāstebhya śreṣṭhāstu vāḍavāḥ | viprebhyo'pi ca vidvāṃso vidvadbhyaḥ kṛtabuddhayaḥ
வெறும் அறிவுடையோரைவிடச் சீர்மிகு மனிதர் உயர்ந்தோர்; அவர்களைவிட வாடவர்கள் உயர்ந்தோர்; பிராமணரைவிட உண்மையான வித்வான் உயர்ந்தோர்; வித்வான்களைவிடவும் பக்குவமுற்ற, கட்டுப்பட்ட அறிவுடையோர் (க்ருதபுத்தி) உயர்ந்தோர்.
