श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । तत्र तीर्थे तु यो भक्त्या नवम्यां नियतः शुचिः । उपोष्य परया भक्त्या पूजयेन्मातृगोचरम्

ஸ்ரீ மார்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்— அந்தத் தீர்த்தத்தில் நவமி நாளில் கட்டுப்பாடுடன் தூய்மையாய் இருந்து நோன்பிருந்து, பரம பக்தியுடன் மாத்ருகோசரம் (மாத்ருமண்டலம்) வழிபடுவான்,
