yaḥ śṛṇoti sadā bhaktyā māhātmyaṃ tīrthajaṃ nṛpa | tasya pāpaṃ praṇaśyeta ṣaṇmāsābhyantaraṃ ca yat
Mārkaṇḍeya (addressing a king: nṛpa)
Tirtha: Revā-tīrtha māhātmya
Type: kshetra
Listener: nṛpa (king)
Scene: A king sits respectfully before a sage reciting the Revā-tīrtha māhātmya; listeners gather with folded hands; behind them a symbolic river and shrine appear like a vision; dark smoke-like ‘sins’ dissolve into light to show purification within six months.
Devotional listening (śravaṇa) to sacred place-glorification purifies the listener and erases sin through bhakti.
The tīrtha being praised in Adhyāya 62 of Revā Khaṇḍa—centered on Karoḍeśvara and the Revā river region.
Śravaṇa: regularly hearing the tīrtha-māhātmya with devotion.
