श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । एतदाख्यानमतुलं पुण्यं श्रुतिमुखावहम् । पुराणे यच्छ्रुतं तात तत्ते वक्ष्याम्यशेषतः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | etadākhyānamatulaṃ puṇyaṃ śrutimukhāvaham | purāṇe yacchrutaṃ tāta tatte vakṣyāmyaśeṣataḥ
ஸ்ரீ மார்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்—இது ஒப்பற்ற புண்ணியக் கதையாகும்; கேட்பதற்கே தகுந்தது. அன்புக் குழந்தையே! புராணங்களில் நான் கேட்டதனை எல்லாம் ஒன்றும் விடாமல் உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.
