श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । साधु साधु महाप्राज्ञ पृष्टः प्रश्नस्त्वयानघ । कथयामि यथापूर्वं श्रुतमेतन्महेश्वरात्

ஸ்ரீ மார்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்—நன்று, நன்று! மகாப்ராஜ்ஞரே, பாவமற்றவரே, நீர் கேட்ட கேள்வி உரியது. நான் முன்பு மகேஸ்வரரிடமிருந்து கேட்டதுபோலவே இதைச் சொல்கிறேன்।
