श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । चित्रोनाम महातेजा इन्द्रस्य दयितः पुरा । तस्य पुत्रो नृपश्रेष्ठ पत्त्रेश्वर इति श्रुतः
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | citronāma mahātejā indrasya dayitaḥ purā | tasya putro nṛpaśreṣṭha pattreśvara iti śrutaḥ
ஸ்ரீ மார்க்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்— முற்காலத்தில் ‘சித்ர’ எனும் மகாதேஜஸ்வி ஒருவர் இருந்தார்; அவர் இந்திரனுக்கு மிகப் பிரியமானவர். அரசர்களில் சிறந்தவனே! அவருடைய மகன் ‘பத்த்ரேஸ்வரன்’ என்ற பெயரால் புகழ்பெற்றவன் எனக் கேள்வி.
