न शूद्राय मतिं दद्यान्नोच्छिष्टं न हविष्कृतम् । न चास्योपदिशेद्धर्मं न चास्य व्रतमादिशेत्
na śūdrāya matiṃ dadyānnocchiṣṭaṃ na haviṣkṛtam | na cāsyopadiśeddharmaṃ na cāsya vratamādiśet
சூத்ரனுக்கு அறிவுரை (மதி) அளிக்கக் கூடாது; அவனுக்கு உச்சிஷ்டம் தரக் கூடாது, ஹவிஸாகத் தயாரித்த அர்ப்பணமும் தரக் கூடாது; அவனுக்கு தர்மத்தை உபதேசிக்கக் கூடாது, அவனுக்காக விரதமும் விதிக்கக் கூடாது.
