सर्वसत्त्वोपकाराय बृहते पुण्यलक्षणा । रेवानदी तु विख्याता न मृता तेन नर्मदा
sarvasattvopakārāya bṛhate puṇyalakṣaṇā | revānadī tu vikhyātā na mṛtā tena narmadā
அனைத்து உயிர்களுக்கும் உபகாரம் செய்யும் பெருமையும் புனித இலக்கணமும் உடைய இந்நதி ‘ரேவா’ எனப் புகழ்பெற்றது. அவள் ‘இறந்ததல்ல’—ஆகையால் ‘நர்மதா’ என அழைக்கப்படுகிறாள்.
