श्रीमार्कण्डेय उवाच । अतः परं प्रवक्ष्यामि प्रजासंहारलक्षणम् । यच्चिह्नं दृश्यते तत्र यथा कल्पो विधीयते
śrīmārkaṇḍeya uvāca | ataḥ paraṃ pravakṣyāmi prajāsaṃhāralakṣaṇam | yaccihnaṃ dṛśyate tatra yathā kalpo vidhīyate
ஸ்ரீ மார்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்—இதன் பின் உயிரினங்களின் சங்காரத்தின் இலக்கணங்களை உரைப்பேன்; அப்போது எந்தச் சின்னங்கள் தோன்றுகின்றன, கல்பச் சுழற்சி எவ்வாறு ஒழுங்குபடுத்தப்பட்டு நடைபெறுகிறது என்பதையும் விளக்குவேன்।
