मार्कण्डेय उवाच । पुरा कृतयुगस्यादौ दक्षिणे गिरिमुत्तमम् । विन्ध्यं सर्वगुणोपेतं नियतो नियताशनः
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | purā kṛtayugasyādau dakṣiṇe girimuttamam | vindhyaṃ sarvaguṇopetaṃ niyato niyatāśanaḥ
மார்க்கண்டேயர் கூறினார்—முன்னொரு காலத்தில், க்ருதயுகத்தின் தொடக்கத்தில், தெற்கில் உள்ள எல்லா நற்குணங்களும் நிறைந்த சிறந்த விந்த்ய மலைக்கு நான் சென்றேன்; நான் நியமத்துடன் மிதமான உணவு கொண்டவன்.
