मार्गशीर्षस्य मासस्य कृष्णपक्षे च याष्टमी । सोपवासः शुचिर्भूत्वा लिङ्गं सम्पूरयेत्तिलैः । यथाविभवसारेण गन्धपुष्पैः समर्चयेत्
mārgaśīrṣasya māsasya kṛṣṇapakṣe ca yāṣṭamī | sopavāsaḥ śucirbhūtvā liṅgaṃ sampūrayettilaiḥ | yathāvibhavasāreṇa gandhapuṣpaiḥ samarcayet
மார்கசீர்ஷ மாதத்தின் கிருஷ்ணபக்ஷ அஷ்டமியில் உபவாசம் இருந்து தூய்மையடைந்து சிவலிங்கத்தில் எள்ளை நிரப்பி அர்ப்பணித்து, தன் இயல்பிற்கேற்ப நறுமணப் பொருட்களும் மலர்களும் கொண்டு முறையாக வழிபட வேண்டும்।
