आज्येन बोधयेद्दीपमष्टम्यां निशि भारत । स्वर्गलोकमवाप्नोति इत्येवं शङ्करोऽब्रवीत्
ājyena bodhayeddīpamaṣṭamyāṃ niśi bhārata | svargalokamavāpnoti ityevaṃ śaṅkaro'bravīt
பாரதா, அஷ்டமி இரவில் நெய்யால் விளக்கை ஏற்ற வேண்டும். அவன் ஸ்வர்கலோகத்தை அடைவான்—என்று சங்கரன் உரைத்தான்.
