Vāyu-jaya (Prāṇa-vijaya) and Yogic Mastery over Time — वायुजय (प्राणविजय) तथा कालजय

Lord Shiva (as teacher in Umāsaṃhitā’s philosophical discourse)
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
It teaches that prāṇa (vāyu) is the subtle power sustaining life and consciousness, operating within the heart and enlivening the inner fire—an aid for inner purification and steadiness on the path to Shiva-realization (Pati-jñāna) in Shaiva Siddhanta.
Linga-worship trains the devotee to recognize Shiva’s presence both within and without. This verse supports that vision: the same all-pervading vāyu functions internally (as prāṇa and inner fire) and externally, indicating how Saguna worship matures into perceiving Shiva’s immanence everywhere.
A simple takeaway is prāṇāyāma with inward attention to the heart-region and the ‘inner flame’ (antar-agni), performed with japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and a Shaiva attitude of surrender, as preparation for deeper meditation.
