Suta Goswami (narrating the Shiva Purana’s cosmography to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pasha
Role: nurturing
Offering: naivedya
Cosmic Event: Purāṇic ocean typology (lavaṇa/ikṣu/sarpi/dadhi/dugdha) and centrality of Jambūdvīpa
It presents the cosmos as a deliberately ordered field of experience governed by Pati (Shiva). For Shaiva Siddhanta, such descriptions remind the seeker that the world is not random—its structure serves dharma and ultimately supports the soul’s movement toward Shiva-realization.
By situating Jambudvipa at the center, the text frames human life and sacred geography as the arena where Saguna Shiva is worshiped through temples, Lingas, vows, and pilgrimage—practices that purify the pashu (individual soul) and loosen pasha (bondage).
Use the verse as a contemplation on Shiva’s cosmic order: mentally offer the universe (including the oceans and continents) into the Linga while repeating the Panchakshara mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” cultivating humility and surrender.
