दिव्यरथारोहणम् — Śiva’s Ascent on the Divine Chariot
Pre-battle Portents
किं तत्र कारणं चान्यद्वच्मि ते ऋषिसत्तम । लोकेषु ख्यापनार्थं वै यशः परमलापहम्
kiṃ tatra kāraṇaṃ cānyadvacmi te ṛṣisattama | lokeṣu khyāpanārthaṃ vai yaśaḥ paramalāpaham
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Sthala Purana: The narrator frames Tripuradahana as loka-khyāpana: a didactic revelation so beings across worlds recognize Śiva’s pāvanīya-yaśas (purifying glory).
Significance: Śravaṇa-kīrtana of Śiva’s yaśas is presented as pāpa-haraṇa and as a means to stabilize bhakti and right-view (śiva-mahātmyajñāna).
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse emphasizes that events in Śiva’s līlā are narrated so the worlds may know His supreme, purifying glory; hearing and sharing that glory supports inner purification and devotion that leads toward liberation.
By highlighting proclamation of Śiva’s yaśas, it supports Saguna worship—kīrtana, śravaṇa, and remembrance of Śiva’s manifest deeds—through which devotees approach the Linga as a compassionate, accessible form of the Supreme.
The practical takeaway is śravaṇa-kīrtana: regularly listen to and recite Śiva Purāṇa narratives and Śiva-nāma (e.g., “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) as a purifying discipline.
