Suta Goswami (narrative colophon addressed to the sages of Naimisharanya)
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the completion of the chapter on Aniruddha–Ūṣā; not a sthala (temple) origin account.
Significance: Parāyaṇa (recitation) of such colophons is traditionally held to confer śravaṇa-phala—merit from attentive listening and completion of a textual unit.
Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe dvitīyāyāṃ rudrasaṃhitāyāṃ pañcame yuddhakhaṃḍe ūṣācaritre aniruddhoṣāvihāravarṇanaṃnāma tripaṃcāśattamo 'dhyāya
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter, reminding the listener that the Purana is a structured sacred transmission (śravaṇa) in which even worldly episodes are ultimately framed within devotion to Śiva and the moral-spiritual arc of dharma.
Though it does not directly mention Liṅga worship, it situates the story within the Śiva Mahāpurāṇa’s sacred context, where saguna narratives are used to guide the mind toward reverence for Śiva, the Pati (Lord) who grants purification and mokṣa.
As a chapter-ending colophon, the implied practice is attentive listening/recitation (śravaṇa–pāṭha) with devotion; one may conclude with remembrance of Śiva and japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
