(Devastuti) — Hymn/Praise of the Devas
devā ūcuḥ | dhātastripuranāthena satārakasutena hi | sarve pratāpitā nūnaṃ mayena tridivaukasaḥ
The Devas (gods of heaven)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Tripurāntaka
It portrays the Devas acknowledging their helplessness before adharma and seeking higher guidance—an indication that worldly power cannot remove bondage; only alignment with Pati (Śiva) ultimately restores dharma and inner freedom.
The crisis of the Devas sets the narrative ground for Śiva’s Saguna intervention as Tripurāntaka; in Purāṇic devotion, such episodes inspire Linga-worship as a concrete means to invoke Śiva’s protective grace.
A practical takeaway is śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) through japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” accompanied by Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa as reminders of Śiva-centered humility and protection.
