The verse praises a warrior whose outer courage is grounded in inner steadiness (dhīra) and scriptural discernment—an ideal Shaiva quality where action is guided by dharma and clarity, not mere aggression.
In the Shiva Purana’s Saguna framework, true heroism is an expression of Shiva-like steadiness: devotion to Shiva (as the Linga and the Lord) matures the mind into fearlessness and disciplined action aligned with divine order.
The takeaway is to cultivate dhīratā (steadfastness) through japa of the Panchakshara—“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and regular Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) application, so strength is guided by calm discernment.
