The verse highlights that true spiritual progress begins by seeking a sanctified space and undertaking tapas; divine vision (purified perception) arises from disciplined living aligned with Shiva’s grace and dharma.
A ‘divine hermitage’ implies a consecrated environment suited for Saguna Shiva worship—such as Linga-puja, mantra-japa, and daily observances—through which the mind becomes fit to perceive Shiva’s presence.
The implied practice is tapas supported by mantra-japa (especially Panchakshara), along with purity disciplines; a Shaiva sadhaka may add Tripundra (bhasma) and Rudraksha as aids for steadiness in worship and meditation.
