Suta Goswami (closing colophon; chapter attributed to Shiva within the Satī-upākhyāna)
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the closure of the chapter ‘Dakṣavirodha’. No specific liṅga-sthala is invoked; it is a textual/structural marker.
Significance: Liturgical use: reciters treat colophons as a pause-point (viśrānti) for phala-śruti framing and for transitioning to the next narrative unit.
Mantra: iti śrīśivamahāpurāṇe ... ṣaḍviṃśo'dhyāyaḥ
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: liberating
This is a concluding colophon marking the end of the “Dakṣa’s Opposition to Śiva” chapter, emphasizing the Shiva Purana’s core Shaiva Siddhanta lesson: ego and contempt toward Pati (Śiva) become a binding pāśa (bond), while humility and devotion restore right vision and dharma.
By naming the chapter centered on Dakṣa’s hostility to Śiva, it frames the wider teaching that honoring Saguna Śiva—often worshiped as the Liṅga with reverence—purifies the heart, whereas derision of Śiva’s form, devotees, or worship becomes an obstacle to grace (anugraha).
As a chapter-ending marker, it does not prescribe a specific rite; the practical takeaway is to cultivate Shiva-bhakti and reverence—supporting daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and respectful temple/Liṅga worship as antidotes to pride and offense.
