स कामबाणविद्धोपि परित्यज्यात्म चिंतनम् । सतीं विचिंतयन्नास्ते व्याकुलः प्राकृतो यथा
sa kāmabāṇaviddhopi parityajyātma ciṃtanam | satīṃ viciṃtayannāste vyākulaḥ prākṛto yathā
காமனின் அம்புகளால் குத்தப்பட்டிருந்தும், அவன் ஆத்மசிந்தனையை விட்டு, சதியை நினைத்து நினைத்து கலங்கியவனாய், ஒரு சாதாரண உலகியலான மனிதனைப் போல அங்கே அமர்ந்திருந்தான்।

The verse highlights how even a lofty being can appear shaken when touched by Kāma (desire), showing that true spiritual steadiness lies in returning to ātma-cintana (inner contemplation) rather than being carried away by mental agitation.
It contrasts restless, emotion-driven fixation with disciplined remembrance: Linga worship and Saguna Shiva-bhakti are meant to gather the mind into one-pointed reverence, restoring inner poise and turning desire into devotion.
The practical takeaway is to re-establish ātma-cintana through japa—especially the Panchakshara “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—along with steady dhyāna on Shiva (Linga or form), supported by Shaiva observances like bhasma (Tripuṇḍra) and rudrāksha if one follows them.
