FAQs

It highlights the overwhelming purity and power of Shiva’s tejas: when the bound soul (paśu) approaches the Divine without inner preparedness, the ego reacts with fear and withdrawal; true approach requires humility, devotion, and purification under Shiva’s grace.

Shiva’s formless supremacy is often revealed through a perceivable sign (liṅga) or radiance (tejas). This verse reflects how Saguna manifestations—light, energy, awe—draw reverence while also reminding devotees to approach the Linga with bhakti and disciplined conduct rather than mere curiosity or pride.

A practical takeaway is to cultivate steadiness through japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and purity practices like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) observance; these support inner readiness to “stand near” Shiva’s presence without fear.
