இந்தச் சுருக்கமான இந்திர ஸூக்தம், யாகச் சமூகத்தைச் சோமத்தையும் எல்லா “நிறைவுகளையும்” வீர நரன்—இந்திரன்—அருகே கொண்டு வருமாறு ஊக்குவிக்கிறது; அவர் நேர்வழி செல்லும், இலக்கை அடையச் செய்யும் சக்தி; பின்னடையாதவன். சரியான அர்ப்பணமும் புகழ்ச்சியும் இந்திரனின் விழித்த அறிவும் துணிவான வளர்ச்சியும் உடன் இணைக்கப்படுகின்றன; மேலும் யஜமானனை நோக்கி வரும் பகைமையான பேச்சு, சாபங்கள், தாக்குதல்கள் ஆகியவற்றிலிருந்து காக்க அவனது பாதுகாப்பு வேண்டப்படுகிறது.

प्रत्यस्मै पिपीषते विश्वानि विदुषे भर । अरंगमाय जग्मयेऽपश्चाद्दघ्वने नरे ॥
வளர்ச்சியை நாடுபவனின் முன்னே—அவனுக்காக—அனைத்தையும் கொண்டு வா; அறிந்தவனுக்காக. இலக்கை நோக்கி நேராகச் செல்லும், வந்து சேர்ந்த, பின்னடையாத அந்த நரனுக்காக நிறைவுகளையும் செழிப்புகளையும் கொண்டு வா.

एमेनं प्रत्येतन सोमेभिः सोमपातमम् । अमत्रेभिॠजीषिणमिन्द्रं सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः ॥
இவ்விதம் அவனிடம் வாருங்கள்; சோமங்களுடன் அவனை அணுகுங்கள்—சோமபானத்தில் மிகச் சிறந்த இன்றனை. அளவிலா பிழிந்த இந்து-துளிகளால், ‘ர்ஜீஷின்’ (நேர்ச் செலுத்தும்/நேரோட்ட) வலிமையுடன், இன்றனை அணுகுங்கள்.

यदी सुतेभिरिन्दुभिः सोमेभिः प्रतिभूषथ । वेदा विश्वस्य मेधिरो धृषत्तंतमिदेषते ॥
நீங்கள் பிழிந்த ஒளிமிகு இந்து-துளிகளாலும், சோமங்களாலும் அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டு அவனை எதிர்கொள்ளும் போது—அப்போது அந்த மேதாவி (ஞானி) அனைத்தையும் அறிகிறான்; அந்தத் தைரியமான ஆவி ‘தத்’ நோக்கி மேலும் மேலும் நாடுகிறது.

अस्माअस्मा इदन्धसोऽध्वर्यो प्र भरा सुतम् । कुवित्समस्य जेन्यस्य शर्धतोऽभिशस्तेरवस्परत् ॥
அவனுக்கே, அவனுக்கே நிச்சயமாக, ஹே அத்வர்யு, அந்தஸ் (சோமரசம்) பிழிந்த பங்கினை முன்னே கொண்டு வந்து அர்ப்பணிக்க. ஒருவேளை அந்த ஜென்ய (வெற்றி பெறும்)வன், தன் சர்த் (போர்க் கூட்டம்) உடன், அபிஷஸ்தி (சாபம்/பகைமொழி) எனும் தாக்குதலைத் தள்ளி அகற்றுவான்.
