देवेभ्यो हि प्रथमं यज्ञियेभ्योऽमृतत्वं सुवसि भागमुत्तमम् । आदिद्दामानं सवितर्व्यूर्णुषेऽनूचीना जीविता मानुषेभ्यः ॥

devebhyo hi prathamaṃ yajñiyebhyo 'mṛtatvaṃ suvasi bhāgam uttamam | ādid dāmānaṃ savitar vy ūrṇuṣe 'nūcīnā jīvitā mānuṣebhyaḥ ||

யாகத்திற்குரிய தேவர்களுக்காக நீ முதலில் அமரத்துவத்தின் உத்தமப் பங்கினை இயக்குகிறாய்; பின்னர், ஓ சவிதரே, அளவிட்ட ஒழுங்குகளான ‘தாமன்’ (dāman) ஐ நீ விரிக்கிறாய்; அவற்றின் பின்பற்றுதலில் மனிதர்க்கு வாழ்வின் ஓடைகளை விரிவாக்குகிறாய்.
