Sukta 3.1
आ देवानामभवः केतुरग्ने मन्द्रो विश्वानि काव्यानि विद्वान् । प्रति मर्ताँ अवासयो दमूना अनु देवान्रथिरो यासि साधन् ॥
ā devānām abhavaḥ ketúr agne mandró viśvā́ni kā́vyāni vidvā́n | práti martā́m̐ avāsayo damūnā́ ánu devā́n rathiró yāsi sā́dhan ||
அக்னியே! நீ தேவர்களின் கேது—அடையாளத் தீ/சின்ன ஒளி—ஆகியுள்ளாய்; மந்த்ர (இன்பமூட்டும்) வல்லமையுடன் எல்லா காவ்ய—ஊக்கமூட்டிய வாக்கும் மறைஞானமும்—அறிந்தவன். தமூனா (இல்லம் காக்கும்) நீ மனிதர்களை தெய்வ வாசஸ்தலத்தை நோக்கி திருப்புகிறாய்; மேலும் உறுதியான ரதிகாரன் போல தேவர்களைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, காரியத்தை நிறைவேற்றிச் செல்கிறாய்.
