Sukta 2.28
माहं मघोनो वरुण प्रियस्य भूरिदाव्न आ विदं शूनमापेः । मा रायो राजन्त्सुयमादव स्थां बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः ॥
mā́haṃ maghóno varuṇa priyásya bhūridā́vna ā́ vidaṃ śū́nām ā́peḥ | mā́ rāyó rājan suyámād áva sthāṃ bṛhád vadema vidáthe suvī́rāḥ ||
வருணா! பெருந்தானம் அளிக்கும் பிரியன் (மகோன) அவரின் அருள்சன்னிதியிலிருந்து நான் விலகாதிருக்க; வெறுமை, வறுமை ஆகியவற்றில் நான் வீழாதிருக்க. ஓ அரசனே! சுயம (நன்கு நடத்தப்படும்) ரயி-பாதையிலிருந்து நான் சறுக்கி விழாதிருக்க; விதத (சபை) யில் நாம் ப்ருஹத் (விரிவு/மகத்துவம்) பற்றிய வாக்கை உரைப்போம்; சுவீர (உள்ளார்ந்த வீரத்துடன்) இருப்போமாக.
