मा नो अग्ने सख्या पित्र्याणि प्र मर्षिष्ठा अभि विदुष्कविः सन् । नभो न रूपं जरिमा मिनाति पुरा तस्या अभिशस्तेरधीहि ॥
mā́ no agne sakhyā́ pitryā́ṇi prá marṣiṣṭhā abhí vidúṣ kavíḥ sán | nábho ná rūpáṃ jarimā́ mināti purā́ tasyā abhíśaster ádhīhi ||
அக்னியே, எங்கள் பித்ரு-பாரம்பரிய நட்பை அலட்சியம் செய்யாதே; அறிந்த கவிஞன்-ரிஷியாக இருந்து எங்களை முழுமையாகக் கவனித்தருள்வாய். முதுமை ஆகாயத்தின் உருவை மாசுபடுத்தாததுபோல், எந்தச் சிதைவும் எங்களைச் சுருக்காதிருக்க; பகைமொழியின் அந்தத் தாக்குதலுக்கு முன்பே எங்கள் மேல் நின்று காத்தருள்வாய்.
