Sarga 75: Bharata and Kausalya—Reproach, Oaths, and Reconciliation
पुत्रैर्दारैश्च भृत्यैश्च स्वगृहे परिवारितः।स एको मृष्टमश्नातु यस्यार्योऽनुमते गतः।।।।
putrair dāraiś ca bhṛtyaiś ca svagṛhe parivāritaḥ | sa eko mṛṣṭam aśnātu yasyāryo ’numate gataḥ ||
என் ஆரிய சகோதரன் நாடு நீங்கச் சென்றதற்கு யாருடைய சம்மதமோ, அவன் தன் வீட்டில் மகன், மனைவி, பணியாளர்கள் சூழ இருந்தாலும் தனக்கே தனியாகச் சிறந்த உணவை உண்ணட்டும்; அதற்குரிய பழியையும் அடையட்டும்।
May the one who counselled the exile of my esteemed brother acquire the sin in the same way as one who, although surrounded by wife, children and servants, eats the delicacies all alone without sharing acquires.
Dharma for a householder includes care and sharing with dependents; selfish enjoyment amid family and servants is portrayed as blameworthy.
Bharata continues to frame the exile as a moral rupture and calls down socially recognized forms of blame upon the instigator.
