Crossing the Gaṅgā; Sumantra’s Return; Adoption of Ascetic Signs
एवं बहुविधं दीनं याचमानं पुनः पुनः।रामो भृत्यानुकम्पी तु सुमन्त्रमिदमब्रवीत्।।2.52.59।।
evaṃ bahuvidhaṃ dīnaṃ yācamānaṃ punaḥ punaḥ |
rāmo bhṛtyānukampī tu sumantram idam abravīt ||2.52.59||
இவ்வாறு சுமந்திரன் பலவிதமாகத் தாழ்ந்து மீண்டும் மீண்டும் வேண்டிக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது, பணியார்கள்மேல் கருணையுடைய ராமன் அவனிடம் இவ்வார்த்தைகளை உரைத்தான்.
Repeatedly implored in various ways by the miserable Sumantra, Rama who is compassionate to his servants replied:
Dharma of leadership is compassion: Rama’s righteousness includes sensitivity to the suffering and loyalty of those who serve him.
