तथैवायुधजालानि भ्रातृभ्यां कवचानि च। रथोपस्थे प्रतिन्यस्य सचर्म कठिनं च तत्।।2.40.16।।सीतातृतीयानारूढान् दृष्ट्वा दृष्टमचोदयत्। सुमन्त्रस्सम्मतानश्वान् वायुवेगसमान्जवे।।2.40.17।।

சீதையை மூன்றாவதாகக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் ஏறியிருப்பதைப் பார்த்த சுமந்திரன், காற்றின் வேகத்துக்கு ஒப்பான விரைவுடைய நன்கு பயிற்றப்பட்ட குதிரைகளைத் தூண்டி விரைந்து முன்னே செலுத்தினான்।
