O Lakshmana! invite Agastya and Kausika, the two celebrated brahmins, and bestow on them with reverence plenty of precious gems like showers of rain on standing crops.
Respect for sacred duty and persons: Lakṣmaṇa first offers reverence to the brahmin connected with ritual fire, showing dharmic conduct before making requests.
Lakṣmaṇa approaches a brahmin in the fire-sanctuary and invites him to come and see/enter Rāma’s residence as part of the ongoing royal arrangements.
Humility and reverence (vinaya): Lakṣmaṇa’s salutation and courteous address (“friend”) reflect disciplined, respectful speech.
