The Greatness of the Gaṅgā
bhūlepanādibhiḥ samyagyataḥ sānudinaṃ muneḥ | cakāra sevāṃ tenāsau jīrṇapuṇyena karmaṇā || 4 ||
Sūta (narrator) describing the attendant’s conduct toward the sage within the dialogue-frame of Nārada and the Sanatkumāras
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It highlights that humble, consistent service to a realized sage becomes a direct means of inner purification, often activated by earlier accumulated merit (pūrva-puṇya).
By presenting daily service (sevā) rooted in simplicity and self-discipline as a practical doorway to devotion—bhakti grows through sustained, respectful attendance on the holy.
No specific Vedāṅga is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is dhārmic discipline (yataḥ) and daily observance (sānudinam) as foundational conduct that supports later scriptural learning.
