Vāmana’s Advent, Aditi’s Hymn, Bali’s Gift, and the Mahatmya of Bhū-dāna
atrotihāsaṃ vakṣyāmi śrṛṇu daityakuleśvara | yacchutvā śraddhayā yukto bhūmidānaphalaṃ labhet || 38 ||
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It elevates faithful listening (śravaṇa with śraddhā) to the level of a major charity, stating that hearing a sacred itihāsa can confer the same merit as bhūmidāna (gift of land).
By emphasizing attentive hearing with faith, it supports a core bhakti practice—receiving sacred teachings as a devotional act that purifies and yields great spiritual merit.
The verse chiefly highlights dharma-śāstra style teaching on dāna (charitable giving) and śravaṇa as a meritorious practice, rather than a specific Vedanga like Vyākaraṇa or Jyotiṣa.
