पुराणोपक्रमे प्रश्नः सृष्टिः संक्षेपतः पुरा । योगाख्यानं ततः प्रोक्तं कल्पाख्यानं ततः परम् ॥ ५ ॥
purāṇopakrame praśnaḥ sṛṣṭiḥ saṃkṣepataḥ purā | yogākhyānaṃ tataḥ proktaṃ kalpākhyānaṃ tataḥ param || 5 ||
புராணத்தின் தொடக்கத்திலேயே ஒரு கேள்வி எழுப்பப்படுகிறது; பின்னர் பழம்பெரும் படைப்பு சுருக்கமாக விளக்கப்படுகிறது. அதன் பின் யோகக் கதையுரை போதிக்கப்படுகிறது; அதற்குப் பிறகு கல்பக் கதையுரை வருகிறது.
