Adhyaya 48 — The Emanation of Beings from Brahma: Night, Day, Twilight, and the Orders of Creation
सर्पणात्तेऽभवन् सर्पा हीनत्वादहयः स्मृताः ।
सर्पान् दृष्ट्वा ततः क्रोधात् क्रोधात्मानो विनिर्ममे ॥
sarpaṇātte 'bhavan sarpā hīnatvād ahayaḥ smṛtāḥ | sarpān dṛṣṭvā tataḥ krodhāt krodhātmāno vinirmame ||
அவர்களின் ஊர்ந்து செல்லும் இயக்கத்தால் அவர்கள் ‘சர்ப்பங்கள்’ ஆனார்கள்; தாழ்ந்து நிலத்தில் இருப்பதனால் அவர்கள் ‘அஹயః’ என நினைவுகூரப்படுகின்றனர். அந்தச் சர்ப்பங்களைப் பார்த்து அவர் கோபத்தால் கோபமே இயல்பான உயிர்களைப் படைத்தார்.
