चिन्तयामास सा बाला मां श्रुत्वा निधनं गतम् ।
तत्याज जीवितं साध्वी धिङ्मां निष्ठुरमानसम् ॥
cintayāmāsa sā bālā māṃ śrutvā nidhanaṃ gatam | tatyāja jīvitaṃ sādhvī dhiṅ māṃ niṣṭhura-mānasam ||
“அந்த இளம்பெண் நிச்சயமாக எண்ணியிருப்பாள்—‘நான் இறந்தேன் என்று கேட்டதும் அந்தப் பதிவிரதை உயிரை விட்டாள்.’ அய்யோ, என்னைச் சபிக்க வேண்டும்—நான் கொடூர இதயன்!”
