The text underscores a dharmic ideal: a child’s virtue and deeds become a source of legitimate joy and honor, surpassing mere biological lineage—ethical excellence is the true ‘fruit’ of progeny.
Vaṃśānucarita with didactic intent: setting standards for heirs and rulers.
‘Joy born of a son’ can also indicate the fruition of one’s own karma and discipline—an outer sign of inner right-order (ṛta/dharma).
