चचाल व्यनदच्चोर्वी तमोभूतं जगद् बभौ । ततस्तद् दारुणं दृष्टवा क्षुभित: शड्करस्तदा
cacāla vyanadac corvī tamobhūtaṁ jagad babhau | tatas tad dāruṇaṁ dṛṣṭvā kṣubhitaḥ śaṅkaras tadā ||
பூமி அதிர்ந்து முழங்கியது; உலகமெங்கும் இருள் சூழ்ந்ததுபோல் தோன்றியது. அந்தக் கொடிய அபசகுனத்தைப் பார்த்ததும் அப்போது சங்கரன் (சிவன்) கலங்கினான்.
