नारुन्तुदः स्यान्न नृशंसवादी न हीनत: परमभ्याददीत । ययास्य वाचा पर उद्विजेत नतां वदेद्रुषतीं पापलोक्याम्
nārun-tudaḥ syān na nṛśaṃsa-vādī na hīnataḥ param abhyādadīta | yayāsya vācā para udvijeta na tāṃ vaded ruṣatīṃ pāpa-lokyām ||
ஹம்சன் கூறினான்—யாருடைய உள்ளமர்மத்தையும் குத்தும் வகையில் நடக்கக் கூடாது; கொடுஞ்சொற்கள் பேசக் கூடாது. கீழ்மையான மனப்பான்மை உடையவரிடமிருந்து உயர்ந்த உபதேசத்தை ஏற்கக் கூடாது. மேலும் பிறரை கலக்கமடையச் செய்யும்—கடுமையான, அமங்கலமான, பாவலோகத்திற்குத் தள்ளும்—அத்தகைய பேச்சைச் சொல்லக் கூடாது.
